Oxbow Summer Riding Club Program campheading

The Summer Program follows our “Saturday Program” with some summer fun thrown in. During the summer the Oxbow Riding Club is offered on a weekly basis with a five day program Monday through Friday, a three day program Monday, Wednesday and Friday or a two day program Tuesday and Thursday. Our Summer Program offers a comprehensive education in horse care and stable management, as well as intensive riding instruction. The hours are 9:30 am to 2:30 pm (For riders 8 to 16 yrs. old.)

The daily schedule will include:

  • Group riding lesson geared to the rider ‘s level and ability .
  • Classroom instruction taught from the US Pony Club Manual.
  • Work with our horses learning horse care: grooming, leading , tacking-up, etc.
  • Work in the barn learning stable management: mucking, watering, cleaning tack,etc.
  • Watch videos on horse related subjects.
  • Make horse related arts and crafts.

#1 – June 27 thru July 1
#2 – July 11 thru July 15
#3 – July 25 thru July 29
#4 – August 8 thru August 12
#5 – August 22 thru August 26
#6 – August 29 thru September 2
Full Day – (for riders 8 to 18 yrs. old) – (9:30 – 2:30) – $450/week ~ Family Discount – $425/week
Half Day -(for riders 5 to 7 yrs. old) – (1:00 – 2:30) – $375 ~ Family Discount – $325/week

“All of us from West Milford Equestrian Center were very happy with the organization, smooth running of the event and the great stall accommodations during the show. Each time any of us had a question, we were treated with respect and every question was answered thoroughly, politely and with a smile. We were even asked from time to time if there was anything we needed and were offered hay for our horses if needed and assistance when we were moving out on our way home.

The judge, Cheryl Ash, was a delight and since it was the first time I ever did a Fix A Test, I had no idea what to expect. What a treat!!! She was so engaging and her desire for each one of us to do our best and come away with something to work on to improve our horse and ourselves gives me the desire to ride for her again. I look forward to showing her my progress and how much her genuine desire to teach touched me. When ever it is offered, I will always take advantage of the Fix A Test.

Our group looks forward to your October 22 event and I am especially eyeing up your beginner cross country course. It looks like the perfect opportunity to have a bit of fun with my horses.”
